I acquired my first Samoyed in 1969. I began showing samoyeds in 1970 and since then have bred and owned twenty-five New Zealand champions. Our kennels, Nikolaevsk, holds the breed record for the most champions bred in the South Island, including the first South Island bred Grand Champion samoyed. Bear,   NZ Grand Ch Nikolaevsk An Bye Lay, is the breed record holder, winning Best in Show at the Dominion Samoyed Clubs annual championship on six consecutive occasions. In 1974 I imported Carwood Snow Nanette, bred by Gladys Varney in the United Kingdom.

When I married Brian, I inherited his Tibetan Terriers, O.E.S., and Elkhounds. Together Brian and I have owned or bred one hundred and twenty-four New Zealand, Australian or US Champion Samoyeds, Tibetan Terriers, Old English Sheepdogs and Elkhounds.

In 1989 I was admitted to the New Zealand Kennel Club’s Judges Panel. I am at present licenced to judge all seven groups at championship level and to award CC’s to all breeds in those groups. I am also licenced to judge Best in Show.

I have judged in New Zealand, Australia, USA, Ireland, South Africa Russia, China, Canada and the UK.

I have awarded CC’s to Samoyeds in both the North Island and the South Island here in New Zealand. I have also awarded CC’s in the breed in Australia, Green Stars in Ireland and judged a samoyed specialty in the USA . In 1995 I judged the Auckland  Samoyed Associations Open Show.
